Every educator enters the profession wanting to make a difference. I also believe they innately love to learn. However, traditional professional development quickly conditions educators into fixed mindsets. With PD that focuses on “training” more than real learning, educators can quickly become passive and disengaged. We need to rethink the adult learning environment just as much as the student learning environments. We need to empower all educators to be problem-seekers and support them on their journey to be problem-solvers. Doing so will shift the letters PD from a "thing we do," to a true description of our best educator-selves: Professionally Driven.
